Reducing Salt Levels – The Plants Aren’t Happy Aquaponic Update
Hi folks. Have lost a few plants & others are starting to look a bit sickly in aquaponics. This is due to increased sodium levels from the salt used treat the crook fish and needs to be reduced ASAP.
I run through the process of measuring the salt level with the refractometer & the process I’ve been using to reduce the sodium.
Also did a quick tour of the beds to show you how the plants are going & planted out a punnet of cabbage in a freshly cleared out bed while I was there.

Parts Per Thousand (ppt) in gallons (us) & pounds
1 lb of salt per 100 gallons = 1.25 ppt
1 lb of salt per 125 gallons = 1 ppt
